The First Annual Poetry Contest for middle school and highschool sponsored by the South Dakota Poet Laureate (Dave Evans) was held yesterday at South Dakota State University. There also was an open mike after the students read. My spouse had 4 winners out of the 13 chosen from about 500 entries reading so it was quite a deal for the community. There were about 125 people there listening to the poetry. Wow. It is great to see this happening here.

There were several people from the community that read at the open mike. Lots of good writing. I read a couple of mine from the Ses, ie Straight-line Meander and Speed Delusions. It was a little scary standing up in front of a group of former peers who remember me as an engineer/ climatologist bigmouth. It was well received and I think the relationship with Evans will be very productive one.

I have my taxes out of the way now. Maybe I can get back and be more attentive to this blog.

Keep up the good fight for peace and respect for others in the world. This weekend is as critical as any.
