I wouldn't necessarily say the following entry is a complete change in what this blog is all about, but it does reveal some of my current thinking about how to distribute information. This may be one.

I have been investigating the concept and application of ebook technologies for the publication and distribution of poetry. I am thinking of an electronic version of chapbooks. It appears as though it would be relatively easy to create an ebook that had links to collections available for download at a site that could be maintained and kept up-to-date. This concept is amenable to a group–sort of a every present anthology. The ebook could also be printed as need for extended distribution. One of the more useful sites ebookmall.com provides a excellent demonstration of the process from prepublication through distribution and sale.

Most of the example books appear to be those that have been previously published by the traditional method however. I chose a book from the poetry section for examination: Country Sentiment By: Robert Graves for $7.95. The only thing close I can find with Amazon is a library binding for $98. (???), and B&N has used paper copies for $40-60. I have not purchased it yet but you can read some strategy here: Pick something out of print with a high price tag and offer an electronic version. Not a bad idea. It may be a seed of promise for lower volume publications and people who read and love them or is it write them?
